2005's indie rock sensation Tapes 'n Tapes has a new album coming out April 8th, the follow-up to the acclaimed hit The Loon. This time around they are being produced by producer extraordinaire David Fridmann (Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips). This first track is called "Hang Them All".

Pick Of The Week

Roky Erickson - Halloween (Live 1979-1981)

While I haven't heard this specific CD, (although I may have heard a bootleg version of this same concert), I have heard almost all of the releases below, and I feel confident that this CD is better than all of them. Roky is my favorite living songwriter, and he basically can do no wrong.

American Music Club - The Golden Age

Apes - Ghost Games

Atlas Sound - Let The Blind Lead Those Tho Can See But Cannot Feel

Bell X1 - Flock

Ray Davies - Working Man's Cafe

Mike Doughty - Golden Delicious

Grand Archives - ST

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

Gary Louris - Vagabonds

KRS-ONE - Adventures in Emceein

Kula Shaker - Strange Folk

Allison Moorer - Mockingbird

Probably a 2nd place here. This is a full record of covers. I definitely liked the first 3 tracks, including a cover of Dancing Barefoot.

Morcheeba - Dive Deep

Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride

Raveonettes - Lust Lust Lust

Marc Ribot - Excercises in Frustration

I'm a big Marc Ribot fan, and I'm really looking forward to hearing this.

Steve Smith - This Town

Throw Me The Statue - Moonbeams

Pick Of The Week:

In The Valley Of Elah

Plenty of decent movies coming out this week, and a couple good looking films I haven't seen yet. I thought this was a pretty good mystery/drama that obviously had some great acting. Definitely worth a watch.

American Gangster

It is an OK film. Nothing too spectacular, but this continues the trend of Ridley Scott being the most over-rated director of the modern age.

Crime Fiction

I Netflixed this one right away. Chicago area production that premiered at Slamdance.

Kurt Cobain - About a Son

I really just couldn't get into this one at all, and I'm a huge Nirvana fan.

Lust, Caution

Margot At The Wedding

I'd like to see this, although I still have yet to see the Squid and the Whale.

Michael Clayton

Pretty underwhelming. Not Best Picture material.

Redacted

I need to see this also.

Rendition

Actually somewhat more interesting that it looked.

Burn To Shine 5: Seattle

Volume 5 features Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie), Minus The Bear and Eddie Vedder. Watch bands set up in a house, play a song, leave, and then watch the house burn down. Great concept.
