Pick Of The Week:

There Will Be Blood

While I don't love it as much as some, this is obviously a must-see, and probably a must-own.

The 11th Hour

Wow! Talk about putting your money where your mouth is. This global warming doc by Leonardo DiCaprio is selling for UNDER FIVE DOLLARS!

The Cats of Mirikitani

This seems like an exciting release day for docs, even though I don't think I'm going to be seeing the 11th Hour, this is the first of three docs I'm looking forward to. Unfortunately, I just noticed that this ISN'T on Netflix.

Fog City Mavericks: The Filmakers of San Francisco

I saw a poster for this at the American Film Market, and I knew I would have to see this.

I Am Legend

Lions For Lambs

Reservation Road

Resurrecting the Champ

Sharkwater

Walk Hard

MUSIC RELEASES

Marc Ribot: The Lost String

The two music releases this week are probably the ones I most want to see. This is a doc about one of the most versatile guitarists around. You can hear some of his excellent guitar work in the John Zorn song posted below.

Yohimbe Brothers: Freedom Now

I don't know anything about this specific release, but Yohimbe Brothers is guitarist Vernon Reid and turntablist DJ Logic. That's enough for me.

Breaking Records! - Local H - Twelve Angry Months

It's hard to believe it's been 13 years since Local H's debut, Ham Fisted. After original drummer Joe Daniels left in 1999, I felt like Scott Lucas and drummer Brian St. Clair really stumbled, but that 2004's Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles? was a very strong comeback. I can't wait to hear what happens with this new album. The release date is May 13th. This track is called Machine Shed Wrestling.

Breaking Records! - Peter Gabriel - Big Blue World

Usually I like to put a picture of an album cover there, but after a long time scouring the internet looking for information about the new Peter Gabriel CD, but I've finally given up.

Wikipedia says: Big Blue Ball is an upcoming album by Peter Gabriel, expected to be released in April 2008.

Of course, since it's already 1 day away from April, it looks like this isn't true. Whatever. I can't make heads or tails of exactly what's going on with this CD, but here's a new Peter Gabriel song called "Whole Thing"

Breaking Records! - Old 97's - Blame It On Gravity

The Old 97's return with their 7th album, their first since 2004's Drag It Up. Blame It On Gravity is due on May 15th. This track is called "Dance With Me".

Pick of the Week:

Black Keys - Attack & Release

It seems I don't have to talk more about this release, since almost 1,000 people have already read about it in my previous entry. I'll just leave you with another track to check out, the opening song, "All You Ever Wanted", and tell you that you should go buy it.

Anti-Flag - The Bright Lights of America

Los Campesinos - Hold on Now, Youngster

Hawk Nelson - Hawk Nelson Is My Friend

Ministry - Cover Up

This is all covers.

Moby - Last Night

Inexcusably boring from anyone, much less the person that brought us "Go" and ""God Moving Over the Face of the Waters".

Van Morrison - Keep It Simple

Poi Dog Pondering - 7

REM - Accelerate

Matthew Ryan - Matthew Ryan Vs the Silver State

Joe Satriani - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock

Sun Kil Moon - April
