Breaking Records! - R.E.M. - Accelerate

R.E.M. is getting ready to release their 14th album (and first since 2004's Against The Sun) on April 1st. This is apparently a more rocking effort than their recent releases.
The first single, "Supernatural Superserious" has just been released.

Trailer Park - The Pineapple Express.

Now this is exciting. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg follow up their screenplay to Superbad with Pineapple Express. Of course it's produced by Judd Apatow, and stars regulars Seth Rogen, Bill Hader and the return of James Franco, who hasn't been in an Apatow production (or anything funny) since Freaks and Geeks.

But, without a doubt the most exciting/interesting aspect of this is the inclusion of director David Gordon Green (George Washington, All The Real Girls).

Check out the red band trailer below.

Pick of the Week:

Gone Baby Gone

While nothing too exceptional, this is just as good as you've heard. Good acting and direction and some very nice twists.

Amateurs

This is a really good little movie. Basically The Dude (Jeff Bridges) decides that he should stop being a shiftless layabout and decides on the perfect get rich scheme. Make a porno movie. Obviously plenty of laughs ensue, and it's a no-brainer if you like movies about movies, but this one has some real heart in the end. It's been written off by many, but I think it's worth a look.

Becoming Jane

Blue State

Breckin Meyer makes a vow that is George Bush wins the 2004 election, he will move to Canada. He travels with Anna Paquin. This movie had some solid laughs and some plot developments that were very interesting.

Dedication

Furnace

Someone I know from the internet wrote this movie, although his name isn't on it. It looks like a total piece of shit, even though it has great actors like Ja Rule and Paul Wall in it.

In The Shadow Of The Moon

This is really the type of film I'm supposed to get geeked up for, but I really just couldn't. It's somewhat interesting, but it's retreading a lot of things that you have probably already seen/heard.

Introducing the Dwights

I guess I would consider myself a sucker for indie comedies like that. I'm going to Netflix it.

Martian Child

Not nearly as bad or cloying as critics said, but also not nearly as good as a John Cusack movie should be.

No Reservations

Romance & Cigarettes

Tell Me You Love Me - Season 1

We watched the first episode, and thought it was interesting, but haven't had time to watch more. Here's hoping that writer's strike continues!
